Orchids feature on Crete calendar
Joe Mason: October 2011
Now available to order in time for Christmas.
Those lucky enough to go on a holiday to Crete this year will, no doubt, be cherishing the memories of the wonderful Cretan landscape. Now you and your friends can relive the memories at home with the Flowers of Crete Orchid Calendar 2012.
The Crete calendar is now available to order in time for Christmas and the annual calendar features, for the first time, beautiful images from photographer, Paul Harcourt Davies as well as photos by Flowers of Crete president, Julia Jones.
Flowers of Crete is a non-profit making organisation aimed at promoting the rich and diverse flora of the island of Crete to a wider audience.
Volunteers work with botanists, botanical gardens and universities around the world to broaden the knowledge of endemic and endangered species in Crete and to help protect and preserve the many specialised habitats on the island.
Julia said: "Land is lost each year to cater for the needs of mass tourism. Changes in agricultural methods and the increased use of chemical fertilizers and weed killers add to the threat. With the aid of dedicated volunteers we are helping to save plants threatened by the bulldozer and yet more concrete."
The Flowers of Crete Orchid Calendar for 2012 features photos of the very popular orchids of Crete. It costs €12 plus post and packing and it can be sent to any destination.
Payment can be made by PayPal, UK cheque or bank transfer in the UK and Greece. For details of how to get your Flowers of Crete calendar contact Julia firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the Flowers of Crete website.
