Brits search for Greek Island homes.
More Brits are looking to buy homes in Greece and the Greek Islands according to a survey. British real estate firm Rightmove, which specializes in finding homes abroad for British customers, records a rise in searches for homes, particularly in the Cyclades islands and also in the Ionian.
In a recent survey, Greek destinations advertised on its website listed in the top five areas which recorded the biggest increase in searches for homes.
The largest monthly increase in searches by people looking for Greek Island homes were in the Cyclades (up 37.8%), followed by Kefalonia (35.9%) and Corfu (33.1%). Rightmove is advertising nearly 2,000 properties for sale in Greece split fairly evenly between the Greek Islands and the mainland.
It is normal for interest in house buying to rise after visitors get home from their holidays and many are making the most of their holidays by combining their trip with property viewings, according to Rightmove.
According to property specialists Knight Frank, British prices in the housing market have risen by 2.9% since 2008 while Greece has been a reduction in house prices by 29% over the same period, making a Greek Island home very attractive financially.
